Roy LaGrone is an American artist
whose recent work employs imaging technologies in the
production of photomontage, video installations and
animations. While formally concerned with shifting scale
relationships--fabricating a dramatic sense of depth and
movement to the surface--most of his works are centered
on transforming discarded objects, places and entities
into sacred projections. Recurrent concerns are 21st
Century displacement--recycling, and universal becoming.
“I am questioning whether today’s technology can be
optimized to produce holistic models of healing,
empowerment and transcendence,” said LaGrone. His work
has been shown at numerous venues including the
Smithsonian Institution; SIGGRAPH; the Contemporary Arts
Center, New Orleans; and the Lyndon Baines Johnson
Presidential Library and Museum, Austin.
